Meet Margeinda, a 34-year-old monk from Burma. He went into ‘monk hood’ at an early age and like so many, hasn’t known anything different. He came to India this past year to seek a better education and to develop his English skills. While in school in Delhi, Margeinda ended up meeting another Burmese man named Kondala who “happened” to meet the Lord in Dharamsala one year ago. Here is where it gets good! Kondala also was deep into ‘monk hood’ and pursuing higher education. When he arrived in Dharamsala he stepped into what was known as, “the best English Class in town”, by many of the Tibetans, which happened to be the class my friends and I started! We spent so much time with Kondola outside of class as he was very curious about the Lord. Eventually Kondola told us that as soon as he got a job to provide for himself (at that point all his provision was from his temple) he would step out of ‘monk hood’ and follow Jesus. Now, one year later Kondola mes Margeinda in Delhi and raves about this English class he must try out in Dharamsala! Margeinda ended up taking his advice and took the 15-hour bus ride to this little town just to be in our class. We were taken back right away when just like his friend Kondola, he too was hungry to know about Jesus. We sat hours with him outside of class reading scripture and answering his questions. I’ll never forget the way he would take everything he learned and always teach it to us afterwards. He would tell us, “I need to be ready to teach all of this to my other monk friends and leaders.” Margeinda would often get excited for us to pray over him. The first time we prayed for him he came back the next day thrilled saying, “I have never felt anything like that before. People kept asking me why I was so smiley.” He also made us aware that ever since we started praying for him he began to have dreams about not being a monk, having a family, a voice telling him to follow, etc…” There was one point I think in 5 days he had 5 consecutive dreams! Isn’t that sweet!? We were blown away at how the Lord is meeting this man. Please pray as he is currently counting the costs of becoming a Believer.
