Good To Be Back With The People...

Ariel view of Red Hill

This week was the first week I(Dan) was able to get back up to the Red Hill township that Meehan and I had worked in for so many months earlier this year. It was more than a joy to get back up with the people and see their reactions to our return. One young man, Tole, insisted that we ‘do’ church on Sunday together at his shack. His brother, Peter, was one of the first ones we started a baby church with. Although they go back and forth in keeping their little house church going, I am so proud of them for trying to pursue God and church in the midst of very difficult life scenarios. Many of them have struggled with addictions since they were at ages they shouldn’t have known about those things. The majority of their parents were never married. They’ve been in and out of jail, and to top it off, they don’t have jobs in the struggling economy. Please pray for Tole and his brother Peter as they seek to grow a solid group seeking after God.
On a somber note, two people we knew in Red Hill passed away in the two months we’ve been gone. One, Maxwell, a 40-something man in seemingly good shape who would sit with us and talk our ears off…Ha-Ha! He was into Rastafarianism and was one of the first guys I ever met in this Township. His son said he passed away from some sort of sickness. The other, Loisa, an elderly woman with throat cancer. We would often see her in the top area and every once in awhile pray or talk about the Bible with her and her friends. What reminders of the urgency of sharing God’s love with so many of these people.
Thank you for your prayers. Please continue to pray specifically for a movement of little house churches to spring up in Read Hill that will transform these people out of religion and into a real relationship with Jesus. Amen!
